The Story

Signal magazine was a propaganda tool and photo journal run by the Wehrmacht during the Second World War. Published bi-weekly, the contents of the magazine tended to be around eight pages and included many color images alongside puff pieces. Generally, the magazine focuses on German army tactics, theaters of conflict, news, and culture.

The image this magazine aimed to project was geared specifically towards foreigners; Signal was never printed for circulation within Germany, defining the narrative constructed across issues. These are amazing historical artifacts capturing the perverse narratives pushed by the Third Reich.

There may be slight damage or a few loose pages in your copy, the images shown show a handful of the many issues you could receive. Some copies are in German but are in very small number.

We have five years of issues on offer, 1940 through 1944.
